Here is a practical checklist to help you prepare before
you go live.

If you are a host, educator, or service-provider your listing is often your first contact with people you hope to welcome. The most important thing is you are clear, honest, and inviting.

  1. 1. Define what makes your experience unique

Start with the heart of the offering. What will participants feel, learn, or contribute? Do you run a farm stay, a healing retreat, a skills workshop, a volunteering programme or something else? Tell your audience what you can bring to the table in terms of experience and potential transformation.

  2. 2. Choose the right category

NestAway categorises experiences across stays, retreats, educational opportunities, events, visits, volunteering, fitness and well-being, and more. Picking the category that best fits your work will help the potential participants (Nesties) to find you.

  3. 3. Write for real people

Use plain language. Describe who the offering is for, what a typical day looks like, what is included, and what participants should bring. Answer the questions that are most likely to be asked by participants.

  4. 4. Show the place and the people

Photos build trust. Share images of the setting, the activity, accommodation (if relevant), and the human warmth of your space. If the photos aren't artistically perfect, don't worry – natural light and authenticity are what really matters.

If a video is available – add it as a link

  5. 5. Be clear about practical details

Where relevant, include things like: location, access, duration, group size, dietary information, and cancellation policy. Transparency reduces friction for everyone.

  6. 6. Set availability you can honour

It's better to start with dates and capacity you can comfortably deliver than to overpromise. Your calendar should reflect the energy and care you want to offer every guest or participant.

  7. 7. Prepare for the first booking

Think through confirmation messages, arrival instructions, and any pre-experience guidance. A thoughtful welcome often shapes the entire journey.
